Warangal is a district of Telangana.1 It was formed on 12 August 2021.1 That day the Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural districts were reorganised into two districts, Hanumakonda and Warangal.1
How the district was formed
Notification No. 74 of the Revenue Department formed the district.1 The notification lists 13 mandals (sub-districts).1 They are in two revenue divisions (groups of mandals): Warangal and Narsampet.1
The district included the rest of Warangal Rural, after five of its mandals went to Hanumakonda.1 It also included the Warangal and Khila Warangal mandals of Warangal Urban.1
The old Warangal district
This district is not the same as the old Warangal district of undivided Andhra Pradesh.2 Telangana divided that district into five districts in 2016.2
