Kukunoor
Village on the Godavari near Bhadrachalam, in the old Khammam district. It was transferred to Andhra Pradesh in 2014 and is now in the Eluru district. It is the findspot of the Kukkunur copper plates of Kusumaditya of the Mudigonda Chalukyas, and their editor thought it was the village of Krichchaka granted in them.
Kukunoor gave its name to the Kukkunur plates of Kusumaditya, a Telugu copper-plate grant of the Chalukyas of Mudigonda. The epigraphist’s report of 1971-72 gave the findspot as Kukkanuru near Bhadrachalam, in the Bhadrachalam taluk of the Khammam district.12
The Director of Archaeology and Museums at Hyderabad acquired the plates.12 The plates grant the village of Krichchaka, bounded on the east and north by the Godavari. Their editor, Bh. Lakshminarayana, thought Krichchaka was in all probability Kukkunur itself, since the river flows close by.3
