Kavali
Town in the north of Nellore district. A stone by its tank records the agrahara (village granted to Brahmins) Sripura, founded in 1207–08 by the Telugu Choda king Tammusiddhi. A record of 1228–29 near by is dated in the reign of Gandagopala Tirukaladeva Choda. Robert Sewell's table of the family gives these names to Tikka I.
Telugu Choda records
A stone stands near the tank bund at Kavali, and Alan Butterworth and V. Venugopaul Chetty (1905) thought it lay within the boundaries of Maddurpadu.12 It records that in Saka 1129 (1207–08; Saka is an Indian way of counting years) the Telugu Choda king Tammusiddhi founded an agrahara (village granted to Brahmins) named Sripura, after his mother Sri Devi.12 The Kavali tank formed its eastern boundary.12 See the Kavali inscription.
At Katrayapadu in the same taluk, a record of Saka 1150 (1228–29) is cut on the surplus weir of a tank.3 It is dated in the reign of the Mahamandalesvara Gandagopala Tirukaladeva Choda Maharaja.3 Robert Sewell’s table of the Telugu Chodas gives the names Tirukalattideva and Ganda-Gopala to Tikka I.4
Another record at Kavali names a Manma Siddhi Deva Choda Maharaja, son of Jagadobba-Ganda Kamaya Deva Maharaja, whom the editors placed in the Telugu Choda family.5
