The Malyala records

Kondaparti lay in the Warangal taluk of the old Warangal district. Two inscribed pillars of the Malyala family were found there, one in the Venugopalasvami temple and one in the Trikuta temple.1 The first records that in 1203 Malyala Chaunda built a temple in the city of Kondaparti.21 He was the commander-in-chief of the Kakatiya king Ganapatideva, and he installed Shiva in the temple as Chaundeshvara.21 The second, of 1241, records temples of Shiva, Keshava and Proleshvara built by Kata of the same family.1

P. V. Parabrahma Sastry called Kondaparti the family’s ancestral home near Warangal.3 He wrote that Chaunda built the Chaundesha temple there to mark his capture of the Divi island.4 See the Kondaparti inscription of Malyala Chaunda.
