Laknavaram Lake
A large reservoir in the forests of the old Warangal district. P. V. Parabrahma Sastry counts it among the big tanks of the Kakatiya period, fed, like the Pakhal and Bayyaram tanks, by streams from one plateau. No builder or inscription is recorded for it in the sources used here.

P. V. Parabrahma Sastry wrote a survey of irrigation under the Kakatiyas in 1978.1 In it he counts the Laknavaram tank among the big tanks of the Kakatiya period.1 Three large streams flow in different directions from one plateau, which forms their common catchment (the area that drains into them).1 He notes that one of these streams feeds the Laknavaram tank, as others feed the Bayyaram tank in Khammam district and the Pakhal lake.1 He names the builders of the Pakhal, Ramappa and Bayyaram tanks, but he does not name a builder for this one.1
The Imperial Gazetteer of 1909 names the Laknavaram among the minor streams of Warangal district.23 It lists the Laknavaram tank second, after Pakhal, among the district’s chief tanks, some of which were then in disrepair.23 The other large tanks it names are those of Ramappa, Ghanpur, Katachpur, Atmakur, Dharmasagar and Yelgargu.3
