Guraja

Village in the old Gudivada taluk of Kistna (Krishna) district. It is the findspot of a copper-plate grant of 1346. In it the Musunuri chief Kapaya Nayaka gave the village of Prolavaram for the merit of his predecessor Prolaya Nayaka.

Where Kapaya’s grant was found

Guraja is a village in the Gudivada taluk of the old Krishna (then Kistna) district.12 The copper plates of Kapaya-nayaka came to the government epigraphist from here, and he registered them as copper-plate No. 3 of 1934–35.12

The grant is dated 22 February 1346.12 It records the gift of the village of Prolavaram on the Malaghni stream.12 The epigraphist noted that the Jujjavaram plates of the Reddi king Anna-Vema name the same stream and come from the same taluk.12 See the Guraja grant and Kapaya Nayaka.
