Vemuluripadu (Vemalurpadu)

Village close to the Phirangipuram railway station in Guntur district, from a resident of which the Vemalurpadu plates of the Eastern Chalukya king Amma II were acquired for the Madras Museum in 1910.

E. Hultzsch, editing the Vemalurpadu plates of Amma II in 1926, described Vemalurpadu as a village close to the Phirangipuram railway station in the Guntur district. H. Krishna Sastri had acquired the plates for the Madras Museum in 1910 from a Muslim resident of the village. The plates had come to him from the Collector of Guntur with their ring still uncut.12

The grant itself does not concern this village. In it the king, at the request of the feudatory Durgaraja, gives Durgaraja’s minister Musiya two fields in the Karma-rashtra district, which Hultzsch placed in parts of the Ongole taluk.2 See Eastern Chalukyas.
