పెరిప్లస్‌లోని ‘మసాలియా’, కాకతీయుల రేవు మోటుపల్లి నుండి 17వ శతాబ్దపు డచ్, ఇంగ్లీష్ వర్తక స్థావరాలు, సుమారు 1900 నాటి స్టీమర్ రేవుల వరకు — ఆధారాల్లో కనిపించే తెలుగు తీర రేవులు; టావెర్నియర్ గోల్కొండ నుండి మచిలీపట్నానికి వెళ్ళిన దారి కూడా. సముద్ర మార్గాలు ఆధారాలు పేర్కొన్న ప్రయాణాల దిశను మాత్రమే చూపుతాయి; దారులన్నీ సుమారుగా గీసినవి.
