Places of the Eastern Chalukya kingdom of Vengi (7th–11th centuries): the capitals Vengipura (Pedavegi near Eluru) and Rajahmundry; the findspots of the dynasty's copper-plate charters, from Chipurupalle in the north to Ederu, Bezwada (Vijayawada) and Masulipatam in the south; Pithapuram, whose temple pillar carries the inscription of 1202 with the fullest list of the kings; and the temples that later sources attribute to Eastern Chalukya kings at Draksharama, Chalukya-Bhimavaram (Samalkot) and Biccavolu. The shaded area is a rough sketch of the kingdom as the Imperial Gazetteer (1908) and M. Rama Rao (1964) describe it.
