The districts of Hyderabad State as the census of 1931 maps them. The eight Telangana districts, where most people spoke Telugu, are drawn one by one: Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Nizamabad in the Warangal suba (division); Medak, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar in the Medak suba; and Atraf-i-Balda, the Nizam's own district round Hyderabad. The Marathi and Kannada districts of the west are shown as the Aurangabad and Gulbarga subas. Medak district was governed from Sangareddy. The boundaries are rough sketches after the census map, not surveyed lines.
